HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVE
The St. Maarten Youth Council Association has been established on St. Maarten in August 1985 to serve as the umbrella body for youth organizations on the island. Its main objective is to promote the broadest interests of St. Maarten’s youth. The Main Focus: leadership development of youth and youth organizations; enrichment programs; recognition schemes.
OBJECTIVE
To serve the total development of the Youth of St. Maarten in the broadest possible sense.
MISSION
To do everything possible to ensure that the youth of St. Maarten develop into strong leaders and productive members of our community.
VISION
The vision of the Youth Council is provide the following programs for its members Vision Project Management, including project evaluation and sourcing of funds Research and policy formation Program Planning & Development (establishing a multi-annual St. Maarten Youth Development Program in line with existing policies and research) Program Management, including evaluation and supervision of youth NGO projects in the overall St. Maarten Youth Development Program Training & Development for youth and youth NGOs Institutional Support for youth NGOs
THE WHY
- To facilitate a systematic approach to youth development on St. Maarten
- To provide the structure to coordinate new initiatives and opportunities for youth work on St. Maarten
- To provide support to organizations in program planning and management, accountability and reporting, project writing and evaluation
- To ensure that policies and programs are aligned with the changing needs of our youth.
